Bodies compiles artwork from people navigating the challenges of diabetes and chronic conditions. Submissions of poetry, prose, and visual art are accepted.

Purpose

Amplifying Voices

Visualising Justice

Bridging the gap between art and activism, using creative expression to highlight the urgent realities of the fight for healthcare access.

Providing a global platform for creators within the chronic illness community to showcase their work and build visibility.

Why This Focus for Bodies?

As an integral part of the disability justice movement, we specifically center chronic illness to illuminate the invisible labor and fluctuating realities of conditions often hidden from view. We aim to give voice to the unique resistance required to navigate a world that frequently fails to see or understand a struggle that takes place within the body.

Bodies centres lived experience because it is the most powerful tool we have to expose the human cost of healthcare inequities. When we share our own stories on our own terms, we take back the narrative from capitalist healthcare structures that often speak for us, rather than with us.

Those who navigate the daily realities of chronic illness and the global access to medication crisis possess a unique wisdom for reimagining a more equitable world. Bodies shapes individual resistance stories into a collective form of creative survival that centers our humanity over any diagnosis.
